same as airtag
"Never having used iOS devices, I'm not sure what all airtags can do, but I've been wanting an Android option to stick in or on bags when travelling. Fortunately, I haven't lost anything so my ability to test has been somewhat limited, but I have taken it on some trips and it's done a decent job of popping up its current location (along with the timestamp from when it was last 'seen'), so I've been able to verify that it is getting pinged by someone other than me, and has reported location accurately enough for my uses.
I'm not sure what issues others have had, but my connection went smoothly using the 'Find my Device' app, and I've been able to track it in there wherever I've been so far.
I've been hoping for an Android compatible device for a while, and as I do further testing will report back if there are shortcomings, but for now it seems to be performing decently for me, within the limitations of the disparate Android infrastructure out there."
Good to use
We used the included metal rings to attached this to our dog’s collar and now we can track him through the app. It’s nice and small. I love that we did not need to purchase additional items for this application like you would need to with an Apple Air tag.
"This is the first android tracker that i have tried and it was really easy to set up and use.
The set up is very similar to the IOS compatible trackers. You can search for the tracker in Googles 'find my device' app and complete the set up quickly and easily. It's connected quickly and we tested it by hiding it around the house and having a family member use the app to find it.
The tracker can be used for items you keep close by like keys or wallets for example and when you've misplaced them the app can play a sound so you can locate it. This works ok but like other trackers i have tried the sound could be so much louder making it easier to find.
My main use for this tracker will be for tracking suitcases when we travel. I have never had a suitcase go missing but it's something i think about when we travel and like knowing i can find where my suitcase is if it should happen.
I like that you can share the location of the tracker with someone else as if you were to use the reacher on a dogs collar for example and your dog ran off you can enlist help and find the dog quicker.
The tracker has a replaceable battery which should last around a year, depending on usage."
This tracker works seamlessly with Google Find My Device app. It's nice having the option of an android compatible third party tracker that uses a native app. It's compact, well-built, and includes a keyring. I like that it has a replaceable battery and that no extra apps are required to use it. The setup process is quick, taking only about 30 seconds. I noticed it takes 5 minutes or so to update the correct location in the app. I personally prefer the Smarttag2 for history capabilities but I will defiantly be using this on less important items.
Work as advertised
"This was very easy to pair compared to other tags. You just need to press the tag once to turn it on, then open your BT settings on your phone. A pop up window will ask if you want to connect it. Once you press connect, you can see it in your Find My Devices app.
This feels very lightweight. It's about the same size as my Samsung tag, but the plastic case is not as sturdy.
The range is similar to other tags. I keep this in my car, so there's metal and glass around it. It starts to lose connection around 60 ft away. There was also a house in between my car and phone (I was in the backyard when I measured it), so it might be able to ping a phone a bit further away.
I have issues with the sound. First, the beep is not very loud, but you can hear it about 40 ft away outdoors. If there's a lot of ambient noise, then you need to be very close to hear it. Also, the app gets very sluggish when you press the ""Play sound"" button. The buttons are grayed out, and you have to wait for the app to respond. The tags from name brands respond right away.
This doesn't have any lights to indicate that it's on. It only beeps.
I'm giving it 3.5 stars. The range is similar to other tags, but it feels sluggish when I use the app. The build quality is a bit on the cheap side. It works okay if you just want to track the tag."
These seemed solid from the reviews I read but setup wasn't as easy as I would have hoped. I didn't see any directions on how to change the Google account they're linked to. This could be a fault of the Google Pixel 7A they're paired with, but the two I tried to pair only seemed to allow one of the 4 email addresses to be used for setup. This is a less used email so not my preferred method for setup. When I tried ringing the devices sometimes the Find My app would take awhile to do anything if any sound was made at all. These had really good reviews from what I saw so hopefully long term they will get better, but I'd say right now they seem to be on par or a little less reliable than some of the larger brands for tracking. This could be an Android limitation, but I've used other trackers with better results/reliability out of the box. Your mileage may vary!
